Hello, Hypothetical Reader.
This is the first post of its kind; the first post to not be a short story.
The reason for this? It’s pretty simple. The reason is because I originally made this SubStack with one purpose in mind: to upload short stories for the sake of convenience, to link them in Chuck Palahniuk’s call for stories. But, if you’ll indulge me, I’d like to try something new with this SubStack.
Moving forward this year, I’d like to be more active with this SubStack. Provided that there’s a demand for the “content” that I produce, I’ll try my best to produce it.
As for what “content” you can expect, hypothetical reader, here’s a list:
More Short Stories
Random posts on pop culture (or just whatever I feel like). E.g. posts talking about books, movies, music, that one time at band camp, etc.
Essays. (Because doing essays on things that I’m interested in and in a way that I enjoy will likely be a nice break from the ones that I have to churn out for University and which make me want to headbutt an active sawblade.)
A Novella. (Maybe…)
If this sounds like it’s up your alley, consider sticking around.
Though, that being said, there are a few things I would like to make clear. The first: this SubStack is not likely not going to be for the faint of heart. I do not wish to intentionally give offence, but given the nature of the things I wish to write about, it is likely that some may be offended. So, with that in mind, if you are a person who is apt to have their day ruined by nouns, verbs, and adjectives, then I’m afraid this may not be the place for you.The second: I’m not promising quality.
This is my first time doing something of this nature. This kind of thing is alien to me, but I expect it could be fun.Thirdly: this SubStack will not require a paid subscription — none of the content on here will be behind a paywall.
And that about covers it.
I look forward to seeing how this will turn out, regardless of whether it blossoms or goes up in flames.
Welcome to ScumStack.
We’re breaking new ground here, people.
See Chuck’s fantastic critique of my short story, A Happy Birthday, here:
Like a good lil capitalist.
Whether this SubStack takes off or crashes and burns in real time, the end result will doubtless be entertaining.
Who’d of guessed with a name like ScumStack?
You have been warned.
Do not mistake this for altruism. The reason for this is because I can’t imagine anyone wanting to pay for it.
Some famous last words.
I support it!
*paywall terms are subject to change
Im glad you linked the critique because I totally forgot to read it and am going to do that now.
